De grijsgroene bladeren zijn smal en langwerpig en staan wat stijf aan de slanke, roodbruine twijgen. De herfstverkleuring is geel. De bloeiwijze zijn katjes die geel verkleuren. De struik heeft een mooi wintersilhouet.
